VIKINGS UNITED FEEDER BASKETBALL
Vikings United (VU) Feeder Basketball is a competitive program designed for boys’ grades 4th – 8th who reside in Chicago’s Southland region or plan on attending Homewood – Flossmoor High School (HFHS). Teams in the Vikings United Feeder program represent the HFHS community as we compete against feeder and club teams throughout the State (Illinois).
FEEDER PROGRAM PURPOSE
Our purpose for launching VU is to:
- PROVIDE sport specific training, life skill development and mentorship for grades 4th – 8th.
- DEVELOP a direct pipeline of well-rounded student athletes who a fully equipped to withstand the responsibility of being a student athlete and serving as a leader in their school & community.
- INTRODUCE the H-F community at large to our current & future student athletes helping to reignite community wide support for H-F sports and beyond.
- BUILD a bridge and establish a sense of connectivity for VU students with successful H-F & VU alum.
FEEDER SEASON OVERVIEW
REGISTRATION IS OPEN!!
- ALL players must attend the 2-day tryout
- If players miss one day of tryouts, their evaluation will be based on the day they attended.
- Not all players who tryout make a team
- We offer teams at grades 4th – 8th
- Practice Starts October 16th
- All teams practice 2 days a week at Homewood-Flossmoor High School
- Practices are 90 – 120 minutes
- Generally, practice is held on T-TH (Nov. – Dec.) & M–W (Jan. – Mar.) (Specific times will be given after tryouts)
- 4th&5th Grade Feeder Teams will play 25+ games (tournaments, shootouts, and leagues)
- 6th&8th Grade Feeder Teams will play 30+ games (tournaments, shootouts, and leagues)
- Players will also have a minimum of 8 group skill & performance training sessions (held during practices)
- Games played in Chicagoland area gyms
- 4th&5th Grade season ends Monday, February 9th
- 6th – 8th Grade season ends Monday, March 23rd
- Feeder Teams are coached by a VU Staff member and managed by our Program Directors
- 11 players maximum on a team
